Launch day: How f*cked up is your management?

October 3, 2017

We couldn’t be here without you.

Today our book is live across online platforms, in print and digital. If you haven’t bought a copy yet, you can get it here:

Magic Take-me-to-the-right-country Amazon Link

Most people don’t talk about book numbers. As new authors, it’s really hard to figure out what to expect, and when you do, the numbers always seem small. Did you know, for instance, that if you ever sell 1,000 copies of a business book over its lifetime, you’re in the top 5%? We’ve seen claims that 250 is a more typical average performance. I think that sounds bonkers, but here we are.

So here’s a number for you. Thanks to you folks, and the support you’ve given us, and the tweets and facebook posts and linkedin noise you’ve made, HFUIYM is currently at almost 2,000 pre-orders. Maybe more, it’s hard for us to tell until the numbers from this week come in for real. You made us an amazon bestseller within 24 hours of our pre-order going live. We have dreams of hitting the Wall Street Journal’s business bestseller list, but that probably means selling 4,000 books in a week, and we worry we’ve tired you out.

Still, if you have been holding off for it to actually be available, today is the day. If you’ve been thinking about handing one to your CEO, or if you’re a CEO thinking about buying copies for your management team, today is the day. And if there’s any way you can help us spread the word, if there’s a facebook group or a mailing list or someone you can forward this email to, today is the day.

Thank you all so much. We’ve been behind on writing new stuff as we get this book out the door. We’ve both got new posts bouncing around in our heads that we want to get out to you folks. In the meantime, if you ordered a copy and it comes to you this week, I hope you’ll let us know what you think.
