Pulse: Meaning

Friday, Sept 12

We’ve been hearing that a lot of you are enduring.

Enduring the work. Sticking it out. Getting pep talks from your partner/sibling/reflection before going into meetings. Being forced to hand off the thinking and the writing and the reading to LLMs. Scrolling LinkedIn. Saying “oh, you know” when people ask how work’s going. Limiting your joy/care/growth to evenings and weekends.

Basically: doing everything in your power to shut out the crescendo of frustration and boredom and “who cares”-ness of doing work you don’t care about.

If that’s you. How’s it going?

Is this what you thought it would be?

If it’s great, then it’s great. We don’t need to push you off it if you’re thriving. And if it’s not the “shrug and check out and cash in the cheque” dream you thought it would be. If you want more…

You’re allowed to want more.

OK? One more time: you’re. allowed. to want. more.

Work can be meaningful. You’re allowed to want that.

That’s what we’re gonna talk about at our next Pulse. Meaning.

So if you could use an hour with other people who give a shit — September 12. This one’s pay-what-you-can, and all the proceeds get donated.

(If you can’t make it, sign up for The Guest List. We’ll let you know about the next Pulse.)

About Pulse

Pulse is a series centered on practice. There’s no pre-work and no homework. There’s all of you, and us, coming together for an hour to go deep on one topic. To make work better.

It isn’t a webinar — you can’t be a silent observer. It’s online, live and interactive. It’s a program we designed for people who are willing to show up, cameras on, notifications off, as real as possible.

Bring your whole team or just yourself. If you’re excited to be there, we’d love to have you.

We’re grateful and excited to work with thousands of people from many industries around the world. However, there are a limited number of organizations and industries we don’t work with (oil, tobacco, weapons, etc). If we see a registration from one of those companies come in, we’ll reach out and refund the order. More info on our client policy can be found here.
